FALL SAUCE
1 1/2 oz Ruby Red Grapefruit Moonshine
1 oz Pear water*
3/4 oz Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub
Several dashes of Orange Spice (We used @rootbitters)
Add ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake and strain over new ice. Garnish with a grapefruit twist (optionally wrapped around a whole vanilla bean).
This drink is really well balanced and the spice notes from the bitters really pull it all together.
*Ok so "pear water"... One of the things I love making in the fall is homemade applesauce ππ but we had some extra pears πfrom our Chai Pear production so I made pearsauce instead. The "pear water" is the excess water that was left after food milling and straining the pearsauce.
.
To me this is really exciting for two reasons:
.
1. This "water" would have otherwise gone to waste.
2. We basically created a pear simple syrup without adding any sugar.
.
Enjoy and happy upcycling everyone.
